How old do you have to be to become a chaplain?
While we recommend our AIC and PCI classes for anyone over 13, chaplains must be 18 years old.
How much does it cost to become a chaplain?
The total cost (for training and application) can vary depending on when you register for the training conferences and if you qualify for any discounts. It could be anywhere between $670-$870. There is also a renewal fee when your chaplaincy expires.
Why do I have to sign a lifestyle agreement to be a chaplain?
We require all chaplains to abide by the lifestyle agreement while commissioned with CIA in order to assure that they are living lives above reproach, being an example, and not causing anyone to stumble.
I had a credit mishap, can I still become a CIA chaplain?
These instances are reviewed on a case by case basis, but does not automatically preclude you from Chaplaincy.
I have a criminal record, can I still become a CIA chaplain?
These instances are reviewed on a case by case basis. It will be addressed in your panel review, but does not automatically preclude you from Chaplaincy.
